Making Your Workplace Work For You

If you're starting to dread going to work every morning and have begun to think it is time for a major career change, you may want to consider all of your options.

Sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery rather than a major career change to reclaim happiness.  Each company has its own unique personality and in order for you to look forward to going to work everyday, there needs to be the right chemistry between you and your company in order for it to be considered a "good match".

So when the idea to completely switch gears hits and you begin to crave a new career, take the time to really evaluate what is making you unhappy.  The next step is actually going out and discovering what type of environment works best for you.

Do you hate rigid work hours and feel like you can never leave your work at the office?  Organizations that employ younger staff tend to have more of a work/life balance.  Do you feel as if you are alwasy being ignored and are insignificant?  Female leaders tend to be more concerned about employee sensitivities.

You can learn a lot about an office personality just by walking around.  How are the rooms arranged?  How do people talk to each other?  How is it decorated?

So the next time you get the feeling that you just can't take one more day of doing what you're doing, take the time to consider why you feel that way and discover a way to make your workplace a place that works for you.
